WI vs IND (2nd ODI): Virat Kohli breaks 26-year-old record, becomes highest run-scorer in ODIs against West Indies

On Sunday, during the second ODI against West Indies at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad, Indian captain Virat Kohli added another feather in his cap. With the 19th run of his inning, Kohli became the highest ODI run-scorer against West Indies.

Former Pakistan’s cricketer Javed Miandad held the previous record for the last 26 years. Miandad scored a total of 1,930 runs in 64 innings against Windies while Kohli achieved this feat only in 34 innings.

King Kohli also holds the record for the most number of centuri𝐆es against West Indies followed by South African cricketers Herschꦡelle Gibbs and Hashim Amla.

Earlier, Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first. “We are backing Rishabh to still bat at four, and Shreyas Iyer will bat at five. Four and five are more like floating batting position for us, according to the situation of the game anyone can bat anywhere.“, told Kohli at the toss.

The first ODI game of the series was washed ou✨t due 🍸to rain. The captain enjoyed his time, dancing to the tunes of the Caribbean music along with Windies opener Chris Gayle.
