In-form Virat Kohli could well be on his way to achieving a remarkable feat during India’s first Test in Antigua starting from Thursday, August 22.
Kohli, who has currently notched up 18 Test centuries as India captain, needs one more to be at par with Ricky Ponting’s tally of 19 Test centuries as skipper.
Ponting is currently second, behind South Africa’s Graeme Smith, who has smashed 25 centuries in 109 Test matches. Out of the 25 tons, 17 have come overseas.
Overall, Virat has scored 25 cent✅uries, including six mammoth double hundreds.
The already successful Indian skippe🐼r will eye another record when the first Test starts, which also marks t✤he beginning of the World Test Championship.
The 30-year-old is just one victory away from equalling MS Dhoni’s record of most wins as Indian Test captain. Kohli 🅷currently has 26 w🌞ins from 46 matches, while Dhoni had 27 wins in 60.
The star right-hander took over as captain of the Indian Test team when Dhoni retired from the longestꦡ version of the game during the tour of Australia in 2014. Under his captaincy, India have defeated Australia, England and New Zealand at home, and lost 2-1 and 4-1 in South Afric🐈a and England respectively.
Last year, Kohli led India to their first-ever series victory in Australia. A domin💦ant Indian side beat the Aussies🍌 3-1 to register a historic win down under.
