West Indies swashbuckling opener Chris Gayle received a special send-off from the Indian players after his dismissal in the third and final ODI at Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on Wednesday (August 14).
The “Universe Boss” seemed in the best of forms when he smashed the Indian bowlers around the park, racing to 72 off 41 balls. He hit five sixes and eight fours in his last ODI innings, taking the hosts to 121 in the 12th over when he fell.
Gayle got out when he slapped a Khaleel Ahmed delivery straight to mid-off where Virat Kohli took a sha💯rp catch. The Indian team celebrated the dismissal before each one of them went up to Gayle to congratulate the southpaw.
Ko𒉰hli even did a quick jig in t😼ypical style with his former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate.
Gayle then walked off, holding his helmet aloft his bat in a d𓆉isplay to the spectator🌜s.

In Wednesday’s match, the Jamaican played in a specially made jersey with 301 – the number of ODIs he has played – on its back. He usually wears No. 45.
Out of those 301 ODIs, Gayle has represented West Indies in 298, 💦a record that he claimed during the 2019 World Cup.
During the India series, Gayle went past Brian Lara’s career tally of 10,405 ODI runs, the most by a West Indies player.
BREAKING: Universe Boss bows out from ODI cricket with a blistering 72 runs off 41 balls with 8 fours & 5 sixes.
That takes his total to a staggering 1128 fours & 331 sixes in 301 games.
What a legend – the greatest cricket entertainer of them all.
Thanks Boss.— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan)
