Indian team players have their say on Names and Numbers on the Test Jersey

Earlier this month, the International Cricket Council decided to add the player’s name and number on the Test jerseys. The step was taken to popularise Test format among young audiences further.

Team India officially donned their new jersey for the first time on 22nd August against West Indies for the Antigua Test. In an interview wit🌜h BCCI before the start of the tournament, Indian team players expressed t✅heir thoughts about the new initiative.

There are complaints from my own family and my friends that once we’re on the field, nobody knows who’s who because all of us have beards. And once you wear the helmet, you can’t really see who is batting,” said opening batsman KL Rahul.

Middle-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara was supportive of the change. He said, “It becomes easier for the crowd to identify the players when they are on the field.

Ravichandran Ashwin also praised ICC’s action. “Whatever is going to engage the fans and get young audiences back into the oldest and best form of the game, it’s good enough,” told Ashwin.
