Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal reported that he was approached for match-fixing in the ongoing Global T20 Canada tournament. The T20 franchise league boasts of the participation of cr💦icketing superstars like Yuvraj Singh, Shahid Afridi, Chris Gayle and Andre Russell.
According to Pakistani media reports, Akmal immediately contacted the anti-corruption wing of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He said he was asked to indulge in the corrupt act of fixi🔯ng some league games by the former Pakistan cricketer, Mansoor Akhtar and an Indian bookmaker.
Following the accusation, “Mansoor Akhtar was dismissed from his post; however, the final decision regarding the incident is yet to be made,” reported Dunya News.
Akhtar is an official who is a part of the Winnipeg Hawks team management. Besides Akmal,🐷 the franchise also includes high-pro෴file players like Dwayne Bravo, Chris Lynn and JP Duminy.
Geo T💞V reported that Akmal had filed a complaint against Akhtar, informing the PCB as well as the GT20 aꦗdministration.
“Anti-corruption officials have swung into action after the reported incident,” the Geo TV report said.
Umar Akmal has played three matches for the Hawks till now and has scored🧸 12, 49 and 9 runs respectively.
Mansoor Akh🌄tar, who preseꦜntly resides in the United States, was a part of about 19 Tests and 41 ODIs between 1980 and 1990.
As per reports🍸 by PTI, ಞAkhtar went incommunicado after being exposed by Akmal.
This is not the first time something like this is happening. Earlier, Umar Akmal had made controversial claims in a TV intervꦇiew. He revealed that he was approached for match-fixing by some bookmakers during the 2015 World Cup and Hong Kong Super Sixes.
