India batsman Prithvi Shaw responds to his suspension news

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday banned young💛 India batsman Prithvi Shaw for 8 months after he was found guilty of violating the anti-dope norms. The opener had reportedly consumed cover-the-counter cough syrup earlier this year in February.

The 19-year-old Shaw can’t be part of competitive cricket till November 15, BCCI confirmed in their statement.

“The eight-month period of Ineligibility will be deemed to have started to run on 16th March 2019, so that it will end at midnight on 15th November 2019,” the statement read.

“Mr. Shaw may return to train with his State team and/or to use the facilities of any club or other member organization of the BCCI after midnight on 15th September 2019,” it added.

Reacting to his suspension news, Shaw put out a statement on his Twitter account. He said: “I accept my fate with all sincerity. While I am still nursing an injury which I suffered during my last tournament, this news has really shaken me.”

He added: “Cricket is my life & there is no bigger pride for me than playing for India & Mumbai and I will come out of this faster & stronger.”
