Chris Gayle lost his wicket on a controversial delivery during West Indies’ World Cup 2019 match against Australia at the Trent Bridge, Nottingham, on Thursday.
Both cricket experts and fans slammed Ruchira Palliyaguruge and Chris Gaffaney for their poor umpiring on the field, with West Indies bowling legend Michael Holding calling the umpiring “atrocious”. Later, skipper Jason Holder also had to suffer from a similar umpiring howler.
In fact, Wes🌟t Indies failed to chase 289 and s▨uffered a 15-run defeat to Australia.
Gaffaney raised his finger twice in three balls to give Gayle “out” while Palliyaguruge’s decision was two-times over-ruled by DRS against Holder.
Here’s how Virender Sehwag, Dhanush and others reacted on Twitter:
4 overturned reviews so far shows how the umpiring has been. Far too many mistakes. Very poor.
And this is a World Cup.— Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag)
I hope that umpire is happy who dint want West Indies to win at any cost !! .. well fought windies. Had to be look✨ed💝 into. poor umpiring at its level best. Oh biased as well.

Michael Holding is TEEING off on the umpires here
"The umpir💧ing in this game has 🃏been atrocious"
"The umpires are weak"

No batsman has been given out three times in an innings 🐻as Gayle was.
And now we learn a missed no ball prior to his actual dismissal means he shouldn’t have been out anywa🔯y because it should ha📖ve been a free hit.

Windies have had a number of opportunities to really turn the screws. Of course, it doesn't help that Gayle shouldn't have been out but they've been their own worst enemy at times.

Massive no-ball, the ball that got Gayle out should ha🍰ve been a free-hit. It is understandable when a close no-ball is not given, missing this one is criminal. With third umpire no-ball checks on fall of wickets, on-field umpires aren’t even checking NBs.

should seriously look a⛄t taking ♊the front foot no-ball away from the on-field umpire n giving it to the 3rd umpire. Have a feeling it will make a huge difference IMHO
