David Warner smashed his 15th ODI ton as Australia posted a 307-run total against Pakistan in a World Cup 2019 game at the Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton on Wednesday. This was Warner’s first ODI ton after a year-long ban for his role in the ball-tampering scandal and his second in World Cups.
Warner🥀, who won the Orange Cap winner in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with 692 runs from 12 matches, continued his good form with the bat in the 2019 World Cup. He scored an unbeaten 89 against Afghanistan before falling cheaply against the Windies. The southpaw was🎃 surprisingly slow against India in a chase of 353.
But in the overcast conditions against Pakistan, Warner came out all guns blazing. He added a 146-stand for the opening wicket with Aaron Finch and then continued to dominate e💛ven as Finch, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell fell in quick succession at the other end.
The hundred in Taunton was also his third successive hundred against Pakistan in ODIs. Warner earlier slammed back-to-back tons (130 in Sydney and 179 in Adelaide) during Pakistan’s tour to Australia in 2017.
Warner, who was dropped two times by the Pakistani fielders in Taunton, finally was dismissed for 107 after being caught by Imam-ul-Haq off Shaheen Afridi’s bowling.
