A bizarre incident halted play at Cheste༺r le Street in Durham during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 league stage match beꦐtween Sri Lanka and South Africa when a swarm of bees stormed the field during the 48th over of first innings.
Isuru Udana and Suranga Lakmal were batting while Chris Morris was completing his over, when a swarm of bees took over the field, much to everyone’s surprise.
The two Sri Lanka batsmen, as well as the South African fielders, look lay flat ꧅on their stomachs as they ducked for cover, while M𝔉orris thought it would be a good idea to get a few push-ups and planks in.
Interestingly, a similar incident occurred in 2017 when the third ODI betweeꩲn South Africa and Sri Lanka was halted for over an hour at the Wanderers.

Fortunately, the crowd at Chester-le-Street only had to wait several minutes for the match to resume as South Africa set about the task of mopping up the Sri Lankan tail. Faf du Plessis’ side have endured a miserable World Cup campaign to date, but look well placed to record what would be just their second win of the tournament after restricting the opposition to 203 all out.
