The controversy surrounding the ICC taking objection to former Indian skipper MS Dhoni wearing the ‘Balidaan Badge’ of his Para regiment on his wicket-keeping gloves at the World Cup 2019 has taken a turn with many popular celeb🀅rities backing him up.
From actor Riteish Deshmukh to sport shooter Heena Sidhu, many have jumped to the 37-year-old’s defence. They recently took to Twitter to open up on the matter.
Riteish wrote, “Indian Army has always been independent irrespective of the political party in power. We are proud of them. Lt. Col. @msdhoni has worn the Army insignia as a symbol of pride. Doesn’t hurt anyone’s sentiments, In fact it honours the brave #DhoniKeepTheGlove #WorldCup2019.”

I have always felt that every sportsperson is a ꧃soldier of his/her nation. We fight the battles of "peace-time". It is neither political or religious. It is who we are. And if "Balidan" can🐽 define a soldier, it can also define an athlete.

Meanwhile, ICC has rejected BCCI’s appeal to allow Dhoni to sport the “insignia” gloves during the ongoing World Cup matches.
