With the ICC Cricket World Cup in England and Wales knocking on the doors, every team is getting ready for the mega event. Team India is going as one of the favorites in the tournament with some prolific players in it’s line-up. The Men in Blue’s top order has delivered exceptional results over the last few years as they have the most successful opening partners and the best batsman in the world batting at number 3.
Opening batsmen Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma have🐓 done it in the past and are expected to do it again for the team with their brilliant communication and good partnership skills.
Ahead of the showpiece event, Dhawan was asked if he is in touch with his opening partner Rohit Sharma. Replying to the question, Dhawan funnily mentioned that Rohit is not his wife and there’s very little point in discussing matters with the Mumbaikar.
“Baatein karke kya hoga? Woh meri biwi thodi na hain! (What’s the point in discussing things? Rohit isn’t my wife) If you play with someone for years, you’ll know him inside out. With Rohit, there’s nothing special that we do. It’s just the mindset. Even if I bat with Prithvi, the game remains the same. If one person gets going, the other man plays a supporting role,” Dhawan was quoted as saying on Times Now.
The duo will reunite after playing against each other for 6 weeks. Dhawan, who is part of Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) was opening the innings with Prithvi Shaw. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was doing it for Mumbai Indians with South Africa’s wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock. Rohit’s side also went on to clinch their fourth IPL title and became the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
Also, the 33-year-old Dhawan was one of the finest performers for his side in the IPL 12, scoring 521 runs in 16 matches while playing a crucial role in taking Delhi to their first ever victory in a knockout match. With the reputation of scoring big in ICC tournaments already in his favour, Dhawan is hopeful of continuing his IPL form as he arrives in England and Wales to fulfil India’s quest for third World Cup trophy.
India will start their 2019 World Cup campaign against South Africa on 🧸June 5 in Southampton. The team will leave for England on May 22 as they got toไ play few warm-up matches before the official 50-over tournament begins.
