IPL 2019 – WATCH: Rishabh Pant objects after skipper Shreyas Iyer decides to withdraw run-out appeal against Deepak Hooda

Rishabh Pant overrode Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer’s decision to withdraw a run-out appeal against Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batsman Deepak Hooda in the Eliminator of IPL 2019, played in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. Iyer was happy to let it go and he allowed Hooda to continue but 21-year-old Pant was having none of it.

The incident happened in the last over of first innings when Hooda failed to put any willow to a slower delivery outside the off-stump from Keemo Paul but ran for a quick bye. Delhi wicketkeeper threw the ball to the bowler but Paul couldn’t get there and ended up colliding with Hooda on the middle of the pitch. The ball went past both the players and hit the stumps at the non-striker’s end.

The umpires immediately asked Iyer if he wanted t🐭he appeal to stand. After he allowed Hooda to continue, Pant came💙 down to his captain who then decided to let the appeal stand.

However, the umpires decided to discuss the matter among themselves and after a few moments, Hooda was given out by the third umpire with the replays showing that he was well-short of his creaܫse.

Here’s the video:

Later in the match, Pant scored a quickfire 49 after a 38-ball 56 from Prithvi Shaw as DC chased down 163 to book thei🦋r spot in Qualifier 2 against Chennai Super Kings. After electing to bowl first, Delhi bowlers pulled the plug in the middle overs, restricting SRH to a par score of 162 for 8 on a good batting surface.
