England captain Eoin Morgan injured his finger during a practice session at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Friday, and will miss the team’s first warm-up game against Australia on Saturday.
The home team skipper appeared in pain♚ဣ at the nets after hurting his left index finger.
He was sent to a hospital to have a prꦇecaဣutionary X-ray.
“England captain Eoin Morgan has sustained a small flake fracture to his left index finger,” ECB said in a statement.
“Morgan picked up the injury during catching practice… he will not take part in the match (against Australia).. but is expected to make a full recovery and be available for England’s opening World Cup match against South Africa.”
It is not as yet clear if Morgan will feature in England’s second warm-up match, against Afghanistan on Monday, May 27.
Favourites Engla✤nd will begin their 2019 World Cup campaign against South Africa at The Oval on the opening day of the tournament i.e. May 30.
