Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was ruled outꦚ of their Indian Premier League League (IPL) 2019 clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) 🦹at the Chepauk stadium on Friday. This is the second time that the 37-year-old has missed a match this season.
In Dhoni’s absence, Ambati Rayudu took up the wicket-keeping responsibilities for the defending champions. And soon, the absence of Dhoni was felt with CSK strangely failing to claim the wicket of Evin Lewis off the last ball of the sixth over, bowled by Harbhajan Singh.
The veteran off-spinner bowled one away from the batsman and the ball took a slight edge before Rayudu caught it clean. However, there was no appeal from the stand-in wicketkeeper and the umpire too failed to ๊notice the little sound. Meanwhile, ultra edge spotted the outside edge as CSK missed a potential wicket.

Lewis was batting on 12 off 13 balls when CSK missed the chance to send him back. He went on to play a crucial knock of 32 runs off 30 balls combinin꧑g with Rohit Sharma (67) to add 75-run stand for the second wicket as MI posted a challenging total of 155/4 on the board in their stipulated 20 overs.
MI bowlers then produced a brilliant effort to restrict CSK on 109. Lasith Malinga was the pick of the bowlers as the veteran Sri Lankan pacer picked up a 4-wicket haul with Krunal Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah scalping two wickets apiece as CSK coﷺuld only manage to play 17.4 overs.
