After an all-round show in his final match at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 for Rajasthꦦan Royals (RR), Jofra Archer said that it was hard to leave the tournament mid-way, but is looking forward to joining the England set-up for the first time.
Against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), when Archer walked out to bat, RR needed 53 runs off 28 delivers. But he smashed a rapid 12-ball 27 not-out and along with the young Riyan Parag (47 off 31), won the last over thriller with four balls to spare. Earlier, Archer bowled well too, conceding just 28 runs from his four overs, although he didn’t pick up a wicket.
I’m grateful for Rajasthan to take a chance on me, says Archer
“Anyone that comes in to replace me and Stokesy will do a great job, I’m sure of that. I’m grateful for Rajasthan to take a chance on me, having not played any international cricket,” the 24-year-old all-rounder was quoted as saying by India Today.
“I just wanted to get bat on ball in the last over. I am really gutted that I have to leave the boys. The tournament didn’t go as well as we liked, but moments like these really make me cherish playing for Rajasthan,” Archer mentioned about his thoughts in the last over.
Archer had claimed 11 wickets from 11 ga💜mes in this edition of the IPL at an economy 6.76. He also clubbed 67 runs with the bat, 27 among them came against KKR which sealed their victory.
