Fast bowler Jasprit ꦫBumrah has been rested by the Board ✤of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the upcoming ODI series against Australia and New Zealand.
Bumrah will also ✱not feature in the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand, the BCCI announced in a press release on Tuesday.
Mohammed Siraj has been called up for the ODIs in Australia and New Zealand in place of Bumrah, while Siddarth Kaul has been drafted into the squad for the T20 Inter♛nationals.
“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to rest India pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the forthcoming ODI series against Australia and the tour in New Zealand.
“Keeping in mind the work load of the bowler, it was best felt to give him adequate rest ahead of the home series against Australia. Mohammed Siraj will replace Bumrah in the squad for the Australia and New Zealand tour,” BCCI said in a statement.
“Siddarth Kaul has also been drafted into the squad for the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand,” BCCI added.
Bumrah was the star performer for Team In𝄹dia with the ball as they won a historic Test series against Australia in Australia on Monday. He was the joint-highest wicket taker in the four match Test seri෴es, with 21 wickets.
Meanwhile, Siraj has been in top form with the ball in domestic cricket. In his last Ranji Trophy match for Hyderabad against Punja꧑b, he picked up seven wickets. He had also put in good performances against New Zealaℱnd A last year.
Also, Kaul🏅 has been in good form with the ball and recently took 10 wickets in his last two first-class games. He also picked up seven wickets against New Zealand A, including a 4-wicket haul in the last match.
India will face Australia in a🌳 three-match ODI series which begins on ꦐJanuary 12.
🐓The Men in Blue are slated to travel to New Zealand after the Aus🍨tralia tour, for a 5-match ODI series which starts from January 23 and will also play three T20Is starting February 10.
