Australian teenager Oliver Davies entered his naꦏme into the record books on Monday af🎃ter he smashed six sixes in an over at the U-19 National Championships in Adelaide.
The 18-year-old Davies, who has represented Australia at U-16 and U-19 level, smashed 207 off just 115 balls for New South Wales Metro against Nort🥀hern Territory at the Glandore Oval to become the first double centurion in the history of this competition.
During the match, Davies hit 17 sixes in total and achieved the record feat in the 40th over when he went after offspinner Jack James and cleared the fence on all six occasions. NSW Metro rode on Davies’ blistering knock to finish on 406/4 from their 50 overs and ended up winning the match by 168 runs.
Davies has now joined the elite company of 🎃Gary Sobers, Rav༒i Shastri, Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Ross Whiteley and Hazratullah Zazai – the players to have hit six sixes in an over.
While Sobers and Shastri achieved the feat in First Class cricket; Gibbs 🅺remains the only player to have hit six sixes in an over in ODIs during the 2007 World Cup, while Yuvraj hit Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over during the inaugural edition of ICC T20 World Cup in 2007.
Whiteley hit 6 sixes in an over during a domestic T20 match in 2017. Zazai achieved the feꦡat in Afghanistan Premier League (APL) earlier this year.
