A brilliant all-round performance by Ashley Nurse helped Windies beat India by 43 runs in the 🌊third ODI at the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium as the visitors levelled the series 1-1.
Captain Virat Kohli’s record third successive century went in vain as India were bowled out for 240 in 47.4 overs while chasing 284 in Pune. Nurse took two crucial wickets with his off spin after his 22-ball 40 guided the Caribbean side to 283/9. Shai Hope top scored for Windies with his 113-ball knock off 95.
In reply to the Windies total, India lost wickets at regular intervals with only Kohli holding the fort with his 119-𓂃ball 107 before being bowled by part-time spinner Marlon Samuels.
Samuels took three wickets with his off spin while skipper Jason Holder and fellow paceman Obed McCoy also picked up two wickets each to flatten India’s chase.
Here’s how Twitter world reacted to the match:
Match 3, results 3 bhinn. Wonderful effort from West Indies to win one and tie one despi🃏te Kohli’s formidable centuries. India need to sort out a few things and hope they take positive learnings from this loss.

Great effort from the West Indies to comeback into the series. Young Hope was brilliant and the lower order contributions from the West Indies turned out💎 to♔ be crucial. Many congratulations to West Indies for the win and staying alive in the series.

Windies have got this in their grasp. Middle muddle continues to haunt India….
— Aakash Chopra (@cricketaakash)
Jus the third century for Kohli in a losing cause. Plenty to ponder for India. Middle order has been a weak link for sometime as the openers and Virat had covered up for lack of it consistently, buꦑt this has come at the right time.

so win, lose or tie Kohli gets a ton

This is a wake-up call for India and will force a relook at team balance. As I have long argued, India have to find a way to have 6 bowling a🌳nd 8 batting options. That means a keeper🐠 and two all-rounders at 6/7/8.

Virat Kohli 🙁

With Virat Kohli as capta⛎in, India have won only꧑ one out of last 5 ODIs.

This'll be a rare century in which India failed miserably in a chase. He couldn't finish it this time around..
He averages almost 60 in ODIs now, wi🐠th 10183 runs. Nonstop run machine👌🙏 KING

Virat Kohli has now aggregated 995 runs in his last 10 ODI innings, which is the highest run-aggregate for ANY player across ANY span of 10 innings in the game's history.

West Indies' only other game at Pune (at Nehru Stadium) was the WC match in 1996 when Kenya upset them to lose by 73 runs!
