India’s former skipper MS Dhoni is probably the greatest stumper alive in the history of cricket. The movement of his hands behind the stumps is so quick that it barely gives the batsmen a chance to return to the crease after inching out of it.
In Asia Cup 2018 final, the lighting fast stumpings from Dhoni to dismiss Liton Das and Mashrafe Mortaza was the moment of the game. ‘Thala’ affected the stumpings in a blink of an eye as the batsmen had no clues to their moves. Footages further revealed that the reaction times for those dismissals were 0.16 and 0.20 seconds respectively.
Just when Bangladesh was supposed to tee off for the par score of 260, Rohit brought on Kuldeep Yadav and he brought his magical wrong’un with him. It turned away from Liton enough to entice him outside the crease and the time was enough for Dhoni to whip off the bails.
The third umpire was called on to deci൲de and though it lookeღd like there was a speckle of the foot behind the return crease, the umpire ruled him out and Liton had to return back to the pavilion.
Two overs after Das’ dismissal, Dhoni was seen once again in action as he completed his 800th stumping in international cricket by getting rid of Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza. This time, the chance was easier as Mortaza stepped out to play the big shot but Dhoni took no chance as he removed the bails off in a flash.
