Australia’s D’Arcy Short smashed 257 off just 148 deliveries, hitting a remarkable 23 sixes in the ongoing JLT Cup against Queensland at Hurstville Oval. He shattered the record of the highest individual score in the one-day game in Australia.
The record for the highest individual score was previously held by Ben Dunk who had scored 229 in 2014. Now, this is the third highest individual score in List-A cricket, only after Surrey’s AD Brown and India’s Rohit Sharma.
Striking at an incredible rate of 173.64, Short contributed 66.4% of his team’s final total of 387. Along with the 23 sixes – the most hit in a one-day international so far is 16 – Short also struck 15 fours during his blistering knock.
