After Day 1 of the second Test between England and India at the Lord’s cricket ground got washed out, both teams went for a combination of their choice keeping in mind the overcast conditions and the covered pitch.
Day 2 in London al🍌so started off with rain, but finally, the skies cleared up a bit to l🐽et the toss happen. It was won by Joe Root and the English skipper chose to field first.
England brought in Ollie Pope for his debut and Chris Woakes in place of Ben Stokes. India surprisingly dropped Umesh Yadav for Kuldeep Yadav and Shikhar Dhawan made way for Cheteshwar Pujara.𓆏
India must have hoped grittiness from their openers Murali Vijay and KL Rahul, but instead, saw James Anderson send both of them back with 10 runs on the boar🐻d in 6.3 ove🐻rs. Vijay got a peach of a delivery while Rahul was foxed into edging it to the keeper.
Pujara was unfortunately run out when he was sold as a dummy by captain Virat Kohli and India slumped to 15/3 after 8.3 overs, whe🐎n rain interrupted again. Play however started and Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane survived a tough phase to add 34 runs for the 4th wicket.
However, Woakes re💛moved the Indian skipper with a beauty for 24 runs and then removed Hardik Pandya, who scored 11 runs off 10 balls. Curran continued his good work by castling Dinesh Karthik with a delivery that swung💮 in the air and moved towards the stumps after pitching. Karthik played down the wrong line and was bowled for 1.
Anderson completed his five-w🌳icket haul by later picking up the wickets of Rahane, Kuldeep, 🌃and Ishant.
Ravichandran Ashwin top-sc﷽ored for India with 29 runs♛.
Twitteratis were not amused to see the way Indian batsmen performed and with the team barely clawing🍸 their way to 107 runs; they were all 👍over the micro-blogging website.
