The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Suresh Raina as Ambati Rayudu’s replacement in India’s ODI squad for the three-match series against England.
The announcement was made after Rayudu failed to clear the fitness te♔st 𓄧that was held at NCA, Bengaluru on Friday.
Raina, who played his last ODI against South Africa in Octobeꦰr 2015, was one of the first players🧔 last year to have flunked the Yo-Yo test (along with Yuvraj Sigh), comfortably cleared it this time.
The 31-year-old Raina, a seasoned campaigner of 223 ODIs with 5568 runs under his belt, is already a part of India’s T20 squad. He beat an in-form Rishabh Pant due to his vast experience.
Rayudu’s Yo-Yo Test failure has come as a shock for many, especially after his successful IPL campaign (602 runs) with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Rayudu scored a dismal 14 in the test while qualifying mark is 16.1.
The Yo-Yo test has become a criterion for fitness standards in Indian cricket d♍etermining selection.
India’s tour of England begins on July 3 with the limited-overs leg of three T20Is and three ODIs. From August 1 to September 11, India will take on England in a five-match Test series.
