In𒉰dia off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was named the captain of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) for the upcoming season of the Indian Preౠmier League (IPL).
The 31-year-old off-spinner was picked by KXIP co-owner Preity Zinta for Rs. 7.60 crores during the player’s auction held in January.
Aswhin was a part of the Rising Pune Supergiant in the 2016-2017 season and represented Chennai Super Kings from 2009 to 2015. In 111 IPL matches so far, he has picked 100 wickets at an average of🐼 24.99 and at an economy rate of 6.55.
On Tuesday, the Punjab franchise took to Twitter and wrote, “We have a new #KingOfTheNorth! Sheron, give a big welcome to the Protector of the Realm! Our new captain, @ashwinravi99! #LivePunjabiPlayPunjabi.”
