The mega-auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is likely to be held in the last week of January 2018. Goa will be the prefeꩵrred venue, but given the Christmas and New Year rush, the BCCI officials are having second thoughts about the ve✃nue.
While the core of some of the teams will remain the same, after being allowed to retain three players and two right-to-match💧 (RTM) cards, the rest of the players will be in the a𒁏uction pool.
The team franchises have ꦡto be wise in retaining players as they have a total budget of Rs 80 crore and retaining pl♉ayers before the auction will hit their purse badly.
IPL retention at a glance:
A team can maximum retain five players (combination of pre-auction retention and🎶 RTM).
A team can retain a maximum of 3 c❀apped Indian players, 2 foreigners and 2 uncap💞ped Indian players.
If a team retains three players – the first player will get Rs 15 crore, second will get Rs 11 crore and the third player will get Rs 7 crore.
If a team retains two players – the first player will get Rs 12.5 crore, second will get Rs 8.5 crore.
If a te🐲am retains only one player, he will get Rs 12.5 crore༺.
Also, in September, the IPL media rights were auctioned and it proved 🃏to be a windfall for the Board of Control for C♏ricket in India (BCCI). STAR India bagged the global rights for a five-year period for Rs 16,347.50 crore.
