Virat Kohli created a new world record in the 3rd ODI against New Zealand

Indian captain Virat Kohli created a new world record in the 🦂third ODI between India and New Zealand at Green Park stadium, Kanpur.

The 28-year-old batsman was on 8,917 ODI runs from 193 innings (201 matches) before the start of the match and as soon as he scored his 83rd run another feather got added to an already glittering cap of the Indian ‘Run-machine’.

Kohli has now surpassed South African star AB de Villiers to become the fastest to reach 9000 ODI runs — in just 194 innings.

The list, that is now lead by Kohli, has De Villiers on second with 9000 runs in 205 innings and former India skipper Sourav Ganguly is third having reached the mark in 228 innings.

Earlier in the match, Kohli also became the first batsman to score 2000 ODI runs in 2017, beating the likes of South Africa’s Hashim Amla (1988 runs) and England’s Joe Root (1855 runs).
