On Day 3 of the ongoinﷺg third Test between England and South Africa at The Oval, London, the hosts have set the Proteas a mammoth total of 492 runs to win.
During the run chase, South Africa have lost almost half their side and it seems really difficult for them to stage any kind of comeback. Though Dean Elgar and Temba Bavuma are still at the crease, the target remains way beyond their 𒐪reacꩲh.
Meanwhile, South African team’s ODI AB de Villiers who last played a Test match more than a year ago, had an altogether different perspective as he tweeted out that there is still a po𝓡ssibility of the Proteas win. He urged the batsmen on strike to keep fighting as they had achieved it in the past.
Here is what AB de Villiers’ tweeted:
We can still do it if we don't lose more than 4 today. Keep fighting boys, we've done this before! @tbavuma10 & there at the end
— AB de Villiers (@ABdeVilliers17)
But, after his tweet, ABD got trolled by the Twitteratis. Cricket lovers questioned him as to why he is tweeting rather than playing the game. Also, some of them couldn’t find the logic behind De Villiers’ tweet as the game seemed to be well out of South Africa’s reach.
Here are some of the Twitter reactions:
They have done this before with you batting in 🌄the middle, not tweeting about it.
