Andre Russell, the globetrotting West Indies all-rounder, has been banned from cricket for one year after being found guilty of a doping whereabouts violation in his native J🎶amaica on Tuesday.
He will now not be seen playing international cricket nor domestic cricket, which also includes the IPL, ꧙where🎐 he represents Kolkata Knight Riders.
According to media reports from Jamaica,ꦑ Russell had failed to file his whereabouts on thrཧee occasions in the year 2015. This constitutes a failed drugs test under WADA guidelines.
“West Indies cricketer Andre Russell was a short while ago banned for 12 months by the Independent Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel starting January 31, 2017 and ending January 30, 2018,” a report on Jamaica Observer was quoted saying.
Russell will miss the✤ 10th edit🦋ion of the IPL this year due to the suspension.
Meanwhile, reacting to the news, KKR’s CEO Venky Mysore said it is a ‘big loss’ for the team. “surely a big loss. More importantly feel bad for @Russell12A. I am sure he’s gutted,” Venky commented on Twitter.
