Andre Russell banned for 1 year; Kolkata Knight Riders star will miss IPL 2017

Andre Russell, the globetrotting West Indies all-rounder, has been banned fr🔯om cricket for one year after being found guilty of a d꧂oping whereabouts violation in his native Jamaica on Tuesday.

He will now not be seen playing international cricket nor d꧑omestic cricket, which also includes the IPL, where he represents Kolkata Knight Riders.

According to media reports from Jamaica, Russell had failed to file his whereabouts on three occasions in the year 2015. This constitutes a fail✱ed drugs test under WADA guidelines.

“West Indies cricketer Andre Russell was a short while ago banned for 12 months by the Independent Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel starting January 31, 2017 and ending January 30, 2018,” a report on Jamaica Observer was quoted saying.

Russell will miss the 10𒈔th edition of the IPL this year due to the suspension.

Meanwhile, reacting to the news, KKR’s CEO Venky Mysore said it is a ‘big loss’ for the team. “surely a big loss. More importantly feel bad for @Russell12A. I am sure he’s gutted,” Venky commented on Twitter.
